In 1993, director Steven Spielberg changed the summer blockbuster yet again with his film Jurassic Park, which saw a new blending of state of the art effects, practical animatronics and stunt work to create the island theme park that hosts the return of dinosaurs in the modern era. But does the film's themes and effects hold up 24 years later or does it deserve the same fate as the dinos themselves? MovieDude Eric, Kent, Chris and special guest Jonolobster book a trip to find out.

Arthouse Summer continues and takes to the high seas with Johnny Depp in the role that would be one of the first iconic characters of the 21st Century in Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl. In 2003, Walt Disney Pictures set out to rebrand it's live action film department in the fantasy adventure craze of the early aughts. Teaming with mega-producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Gore Verbinski, they laid out a daring new vision of their popular theme park ride and turned into one of 2003's most talked about summer blockbusters. But did the film deserve the admiration it recieved from critics and audiences or should it have sunk to Davy Jones' Locker? MovieDude Eric, Kent and Chris hoist the black sails to find out.

Arthouse Summer returns with Aliens; the sequel to the 1979 horror classic that completely changed the game in both the tone established by the original film and the scope of sequels moving forward. This time helmed by James Cameron, the story of Ellen Ripley has her returning to the planet that has started her nightmares, this time along with a platoon of space marines to do battle with not just one but an entire colony of the xenomorphic monsters. But does the film deserve the adoration of critics and fans alike or is it a bastardization of a beloved classic? MovieDude Eric, Kent and special guest Jeannie from Tyrion's Landing Podcast strap in to find out.

In 2010, director Edgar Wright released his first American film, Scott Pilgrim vs the World, about a Canadian millennial who finds himself in mortal danger when he has to defeat the seven evil exes of his new girlfriend. Praised for it's fever-pitch presentation, off-kilter characters and 90s nostalgia, the film is both a cult classic and considered a highlight of Wright's career. But does the film deserve the limelight or does it run out of lives (and continues)? MovieDude Eric, Kent, and Chris find out.
