In 1997, actors Matt Damon and Ben Affleck tapped friend Kevin Smith and Miramax Films to produce their original screenplay Good Will Hunting about a young troubled math prodigy who is assigned to a gruffy psychologist to keep him out of jail. The film would go on to be one of the most nominated films that year, winning two for the screenplay and Best Supporting Actor for Robin Williams. But does the film deserve such apples or should it be thrown into Boston Harbor? MovieDude Eric, Kent and Chris see about the movie to find out.

In 2005, African American auteur John Singleton helped a young filmmaker named Craig Brewer to get his first feature film, Hustle & Flow, filmed and screened at Sundance. The film depicts a Memphis pimp whom with the aid of a schoolyard friend and other acquaintances puts together a last-ditch effort to become a new hip hop sensation. What started off as a festival favorite turned into critical sensation and eventually an Oscar contender for Brewer, star Terrence Howard and Oscar Winners Three 6 Mafia for their song. But does the film deserve the glory or should it be turning tricks out of a busted Cadillac? MovieDude Eric, Kent and Chris find out.

At the 2002 Sundance Film Festival, a little indie romantic comedy challenged critics and audiences alike called Secretary. The film follows a troubled young woman who gets a job as a secretary for an eccentric attorney that eventually brings out a disturbing side in both of them. Considered still to be one of the fairest look at BDSM, the film is a precursor to the Fifty Shades craze yet never found more than a small cult following. But does it deserve better or should it bend over and get a deserved punishment? MovieDude Eric, Kent and Chris find out.

In 1993, director Harold Ramis reteamed with comedy superstar Bill Murray to tackle a tricky comedy premise that would eventually go on to be modern classic: Groundhog Day. Murray plays a weatherman stuck in small Pennsylvania town during the titular day over and over again despite the many ways he tries to break out of it. But does the film deserve such acclaim or does it need to be forgotten by time? MovieDude Eric, Kent and Chris find out.

In 1996, comedian/director Ben Stiller and writer/producer Judd Apatow teamed with the biggest comedy name of the the decade Jim Carrey to make The Cable Guy. The film, a sharp, twisted satire about a down-on-his-luck everyman who befriends his television cable installation technician and quickly begins to regret it. The film, which divided critics and befuddled fans of Carrey, has slowly found a group of defenders yet still hasn't been vindicated. But does it deserve such vindication or should it be shut off? MovieDude Eric, Kent and Chris tune in to find out.
