In 2013, Spike Jonze released his latest feature, the first from a script he wrote about a lonely man who begins a romantic relationship with his personal artificial intelligence aparatus. The result was near-universal acclaim that culminated in his first Academy Award for his original screenplay. But did this story deserve such love or should it have been downgraded?
