In 1960, famous filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock took a daring gamble with his career when he decided to adapt Robert Bloch's novel Psycho into one of the first auteur-helmed horror films. This gamble changed not only how the genre was perceived to be, but how movies were to be marketed forever.
