In 2016, a small indie film quickly and quietly became one of the most critically acclaimed films of the year, storming into the awards season and finally landing the Best Picture Academy Award. Moonlight tells the story of a young black boy as he becomes a man through a tumultuous childhood along with an array of colorful characters that influence him along the way.
